The 5th Quarter Campus Experience

The 5th Quarter Campus Experience is The Jordan McNair Foundation’s comprehensive high-school student-athlete
education, family preparation, and leadership and safety experience.

Designed as an immersive 1½-day campus engagement, the experience brings together the three groups that have the
greatest influence on a student-athlete’s journey: student-athletes, their families, and the coaches and school leaders
responsible for supporting them.

The Campus Experience combines three signature TJMF educational programs into one coordinated experience.

The Challenges We Help Schools Address

Reduce Parent-Coach Conflict

Help families understand expectations, communication boundaries, recruiting realities, and their evolving role so fewer misunderstandings escalate to coaches, athletic directors, and school leadership.

Develop Self-Advocating Student-Athletes

Equip student-athletes to communicate directly with coaches and adults, make informed decisions, ask for help, speak up about their physical and mental well-being, and take greater ownership of their journey.

Strengthen Safety and Athletic Culture

Help coaches, athletic trainers, and school leaders identify gaps in communication, trust, preparedness, and accountability before those gaps become crises.

One Campus. Three Audiences. One Aligned Athletic Community.

Rather than addressing one part of the student-athlete experience in isolation, The 5th Quarter Campus Experience brings student-athletes, families, coaches, athletic trainers, and school leaders into one coordinated experience—before problems become crises.

Fewer Conflicts. Stronger Advocates. Safer Athletic Cultures.

  • NIL and the changing college-sports landscape
  • Student-athlete health and safety
  • Self-advocacy

Coaches, Athletic Trainers, and School Leaders

When the Holes Align™

Preventable crises rarely result from one mistake. They occur when small gaps in communication, preparation, culture, leadership, and accountability begin to align.

Using the Swiss Cheese Model and lessons from Jordan McNair’s story, When the Holes Align challenges school and athletic leaders to examine:

  • Leadership and accountability
  • Communication
  • Organizational trust
  • Psychological safety and speaking up
  • Emergency preparedness
  • Athletic health and safety culture
  • Identifying vulnerabilities before they become crises

Leadership Takeaway: Spot the Holes. Strengthen Trust. Act Before Crisis.

What Your School Community Gains

Confident Student Athletes

Young people who better understand how to advocate for themselves, make informed decisions, recognize when something is wrong, and prepare for their future beyond athletics.

Empowered Families

Parents equipped to ask better questions and navigate recruiting, legal access, mental health, financial decisions, safety, and the transition to college athletics.

Stronger Systems of Support
